Disability Access and Inclusion Plan

The Shire of Harvey is committed to creating a strong community where all members have the opportunity to participate and have fair access to all activities, events, and facilities. The Leschenault Leisure Centre has been designed to enhance opportunities for people from all walks of life, including the elderly, parents with prams, and people with disabilities. Access and inclusion is for everyone.


Upon arrival the car park boasts 6 disabled parking spaces, 3 of which have a wheelchair offloading zone, with direct pathway access to the main entrance. All areas of the Leisure Centre are fully accessible via automatic doors, ramps and wheelchair friendly pathways. Courtside seating is available for spectators, all stairways have hand rails for assistance. Accessible drink fountains are available both courtside and poolside. Our friendly staff are readily available to help at any time.

Pool Facilities

  • Pool area is fully accessible with ramp for wheelchairs and has handrails.

  • Leisure Lagoon Pool with beach entry is heated to 32.5 degrees.

  • 25m lap pool with 8 lapping lanes.

    • Accessible via shallow stairs with handrails.

    • Heated to 27.5 degrees. 

  • Pool hoist and water wheelchair are available for use.

  • Spa Pool with hand rails heated to 38 degrees.

  • Steam room.

  • Accessible and family toilets, with emergency assistance button.

  • Spacious showers, change rooms with accessible toilets and baby change stations.

The newly renovated creche is fully wheelchair accessible and supervised by qualified, experienced and professional staff. The crèche provides a safe and caring environment for your children with a wide variety of activities.

Inclusive Programs

Living Legends: The Living Legends program is an evidence based progressive strength and exercise program aimed at reducing the incidence of falls and improving overall health, wellbeing and independence of people over 50 in Western Australia.


AquaFit: The AquaFit class is slow and gentle, providing low-impact exercises. Recommend for people with arthritis and back or joint problems, as the buoyancy in the water reduces the impact on your joints.


Home School Physical Education Program: Designed specifically for the home school community, children can experience fun and fitness, with the added benefits of developing fine motor skills, social teamwork and hand eye coordination.


Teen Fitness: Operating during the school term, the Young and Active program is designed specifically for girls aged 12-16 years while Young Guns is the program tailored exclusively for boys aged 12-16 years. As well as introducing your teenager to gymnasium-based fitness and teaching the principles behind cardio and strength training, the program aims to build self-confidence and positive body image.
