Leschenault Leisure Centre Lap Pool Official Reopening
Announcements
16 March 2023

Residents can finally make a splash in the Leschenault Leisure Centre’s Lap Pool now that remedial works are complete.

The Shire of Harvey, together with the Leschenault Leisure Centre (LLC), is excited to announce that remedial works on the lap pool have now been completed, with the official reopening scheduled for Monday, 20 March 2023.

With displaced and missing tiles, it was identified that the LLC lap pool was in need of repairs.

In November 2022, retiling works commenced on the pool, with patrons encouraged to visit the Dr Peter Topham Memorial Swimming Pool in Harvey over the summer.

During the demolition, a large crack in the pool shell was discovered, resulting in an extension of the works.

Over the Christmas break, a water-proof membrane was installed and left to cure, with new tiling installed in January 2023.

In early February, the tiling works were completed and the pool was filled with water in the first week of March.

Following sufficient vacuuming and backwashing, the team at the Centre balanced the chlorine in the pool, re-established heating and provided water samples to the Department of Health for approval.

Shire of Harvey President Paul Gillett was excited that the lap pool reopening was finally here.

“The LLC lap pool closure has been a lengthy project however, it is fantastic to see our popular lap pool back and better than ever.”

“We are eager to welcome back patrons to the new and improved lap pool on Monday, 20 March,” Councillor Gillett said.

Swim School and Holiday Swim Week programs will be returning to the Centre in April, with enrolments opening on 27 March.

The Shire of Harvey and Leschenault Leisure Centre would like to thank local swimming clubs and the community for their understanding and patience as the works were completed.
