October to December 2023 Walking Group Dates

The Australian Heart Foundation Walking Group will be meeting at various locations from October to December 2023.

Please note the variation in starting times on some dates.

Please bring water bottles, hats and walking poles, if required.

October:

• 3 October - Koombana Bay - meet in carpark behind cafe. BYO folding chairs and morning tea or buy from cafe. Grandkids welcome.
• 10 October - Treendale walk - meet in the carpark behind Pete’s Chop Shop. Morning tea to follow at Treendale cafe.
• 17 October - Happs Landing. Drive along Cathedral Avenue and meet in the parking area on the LHS, just past the horse agistment paddocks. BYO mugs and folding chairs.
• 24 October - Harvey Wildflower Ridge Walk - 9.30am start. Turn right into Honeymoon Road, which is on S.W Highway, past Harvey. Follow bitumen for about 2kms and our meeting point for the start of the walk is on the RHS. Morning tea afterwards at cafe in Stirling Gardens.
  10.30am to 11.30am - Tour of Railway Museum (TBC) and lunch at the Wokalup Tavern afterwards.
• 31 October - Leschenault Leisure Centre for Kingston walk. BYO mug.

November:

• 7 November - Melbourne Cup Day - Walk starts at 9.30am. Rowan has kindly invited us to his place for a walk, lunch and novelty games, followed by the race. Please bring a contribution plate of finger food, drinks and 20c, 50c, $1 and $2 coins. Please wear a fanciful hat.
• 9 November - Special event TBC - Tour of Government Hours in Perth and walk through the gardens. Carpool to Mandurah train station to catch the train to Perth. Walk to Government House for tour, of if not approved, walk around the gardens. Walk to restaurant/cafe at Elizabeth Quay for lunch. After lunch, catch CAT bus to Kings Park to view the War Memorial and possibly poppies on display. Bus back to train station, train back to Mandurah and drive home.

New starting times for walks - 8.15am for 8.30am start

• 14 November - Collie River Walk - meet at parking area on Lucy Victoria Avenue for walk along the river up to the golf course and back. BYO mugs and folding chairs.
• 21 November - Meet at Turkey Point parking area near the boat ramp for some walks known only by Adrian. Andrian to arrange mobile coffee van. BYO folding chairs, and if you fancy a swim, bring bathers, boats or canoes.
• 28 November - No Tuesday walk
• 30 November - 10am - Bunbury Motor Museum (entry fee applies). Alternative option, visit Vinnies Op Shop and Bunbury History Museum. Lunch at Bunbury Senior Citizens Cafe. Bookings essential.

December:

• 5 December - Millbridge Walk - meet at Cadell Park. Special pre-Christmas treat. Coffee at Gail’s place.
• 12 December - Either meet at coffee van along Old Coast Road for a walk or a Mandurah Dolphin Boat Tour. More information to come.
• 19 December - Xmas Wind Up Brunch - 9.30am at the Crooked Carrot. Joy to please arrange.
