The Shire of Harvey, in partnership with the Shire of Dardanup and with support from Lotterywest and Arts Impact WA, is proud to present a series of free rug-weaving workshops for the Reclaim the Void project to support Reconciliation Week, and NAIDOC Week. Hosted by South West artist, Elisha Sea, this event will leave you feeling relaxed as you weave your own rug, which will become a small piece of a very large project.

All rugs crafted at the workshops will be gifted to Reclaim the Void.

The LLC is excited to be hosting workshop two of the Rug Weaving Workshop series.

About Reclaim the Void

Reclaim the Void is a bold, cross-cultural project about the 'gaping mining holes left all over country'. Ngalia elders in Leonora, Western Australia, came up with Reclaim the Void as they expressed their anguish and sorrow over the "gaping mining holes left all over our country." The concept aimed to symbolically "seal" one of these holes by creating an artwork that would portray the story of the land. The vision is to cover a mining pit with a massive "dot" artwork of thousands of handcrafted circular rag rugs created from recycled materials.
